The Shepherds: A Story of Undying Spirit
Description
In the mid-seventeenth century, war and poverty exhaust an English village. Then a stranger arrives to bring healing, to show that there is a more spiritual way to live, and to reawaken the prophecies of ancient legends. He is, of course, met with suspicion, prejudice and violence.
Sounds familiar?
Three and a half centuries later, the village has changed a great deal – but human nature has not. The same intolerance of outsiders and judgement of those who are 'different' is rife. So the stranger and his daughter are reborn to heal division and show that our undying inner spirit will always lead the way through darkness.
This brilliant book is a truly inspirational story for our times, written in wonderful, lyrical language. A gripping narrative with a timeless spiritual message for us all.

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful and powerful novel
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 September 2026
Format: Paperback
Whilst beautifully written and an exciting story, this novel addresses one of the most important issues facing our society today with its examination of human nature. The story begins in a 17th century village at a time of war and witch trials when a stranger tries to teach a more spiritual way of life. He is met with prejudice and violence.
All too familiar. Brilliantly, the narrative then switches to the 21st century and the same judgement of 'outsiders'.
Throughout, though, we are drawn in by the lyrical description of nature and acute observation of characters that we can all recognise around us. Not just 'a very good read', this is deeply thought-provoking.
5 out of 5 stars A timely journey

An exciting, poetic and deeply descriptive journey across time and all too familiar prejudices that transcend generations, with powerful characters that you’ll still be thinking about long after the final page. An incredibly timely story that holds a mirror up to our judgements
