“ONE”, is a deeply personal memoir braiding perceived reality, with a light and often funny twist of fiction.  The setting takes place in Antarctica, amidst a cruise voyage.  During one of the kayaking excursions, Grace’s kayak is flipped over by a whale feeding, and Grace gets swallowed.  Here begins the transformation from a non-fiction memoir into a fictional event, taking place inside a whales stomach.  The story turns focus to Fred the whale and Grace, with Fred helping Grace analyze her life and draw conclusions.               

The plot becomes interesting as Fred, shows Grace her life from a wider perspective, demonstrating the lessons learned from the events in her life.  The psychological struggle arises when Grace realizes that she is not sure she wants to return to her earthly life.   Fred fills Grace with peace, tranquility and acceptance of everything that was, is and will be.  In fact, being there with him makes Grace experience the amazing joy of being in the present moment.  For the first time in her life, Grace does not experience the need to change anything.  She becomes free of fear, anxiety or a need to run forward to the next event.  Everything is just perfect the way it is, in the moment.

The book climaxes with Grace’s decision to return to real life, after all.  She makes this  decision in order to face reality and go back to reunite with her family.  Grace hears their cries as she is rescued.  She now knows she will be able to take every moment for what it is, with new found strength and trust for the universe and herself.  She has experienced true happiness and wants to live in it now on earth.
